Museum of Baia

The Archaeological Museum of the Campi Flegrei in Baia

The Archaeological Museum of Campi Flegrei is located in the Aragonese Castle of Baia. The museum exhibition is divided into three distinct areas: the first of these, the Hall of Baia Plasters, located in an adjacent room the driveway, is related to the exhibition of about 60 fragments of plaster casts of Roman times , who played some of the most celebrated masterpieces of the classical and Hellenistic periods of Greek art. The other two, however, are located within the north-west tower, called Torre Tenaglia. In a space at the foot of the latter and in the shadow of the 2nd Torre Cavaliere, eleven marble stones are exposed unearthed between 1967 and 1972 in the so-called Shrine of the Augustals of Miseno. They bear dedications to gods and emperors, and open a window on the life lived in the Roman Miseno in the second century. A.D.
